Babel Buster BB2-6040-XSC
900 MHz Wireless Gateway

Control Solutions’ Babel Buster® BB2-6040-XSC is a Modbus client/server device that functions as a 900 MHz wireless sensor gateway. After adding the Script Basic parsing program, data from wireless sensors will appear as Modbus registers via Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU. The Basic program has full access to the wireless modem API with AT command set for wireless applications.

The BB2-6040-XSC also includes an SNMP Agent (server) with SNMP Trap generation capability. The SNMP support makes the BB2-6040-XSC an ideal choice for data center equipment monitoring applications

The BB2-6040-XSC operates primarily in Listen mode, simply waiting for wireless devices to report in. When the wireless devices do report in, the BB2-6040-XSC searches its known device list to see if the reported data should be saved as a local register. These local registers are accessible as Modbus registers, as well as SNMP MIB variables addressed by OID.

The collection of local registers found in the BB2-6040-XSC will maintain the most recently received wireless data. Modbus masters may query the BB2-6040-XSC server to obtain that most recent data accessed as a holding register. SNMP managers may query these same registers using the SNMP Get request.

The BB2-6040-XSC may also function as a Modbus master, and will use holding register writes to share data with Modbus slaves. The BB2-6040-XSC therefore has the ability to transfer data between wireless devices and other Modbus devices that operate as a slave only.
