Control Solutions is your source for Modbus to SNMP gateways.

Power Monitoring via SNMP (or Modbus TCP)

The combination of Control Solutions Babel Buster X2 and Continental Control Systems WattNode creates a cost effective method of measuring power via SNMP or Modbus TCP.

WattNode features:
• Single or three phase, 120-600VAC, to 1500 amps (limited only by CT)
• True RMS power, reactive power, power factor
• True RMS energy, reactive energy
• AC Frequency
• RMS voltage per phase, RMS current per phase plus total
• Demand, peak demand

Babel Buster X2 features:
• Includes embedded web server, SNMP agent, LonWorks gateway
• Self contained device management, no additional software tools needed
• Access all power monitoring data points via SNMP Get requests
• Configure SNMP v2c traps on demand limit, power limit, voltage drop, etc.

Total package cost for monitoring 3-phase power via SNMP: about $1,100 (purchase WattNode directly from Continental Control Systems).

Monitor AC power using the WattNode. You can also monitor your ATS or generator that interfaces via Modbus TCP or LonWorks. Pick up additional discrete points with Control Solutions I/O modules like the Six Pak. We can also provide connectivity for Modbus RTU.

Our How-To pages start here for using WattNode with Babel Buster X2.

1. Network connections and initial startup
2. WattNode commissioning
3. Data point mapping
4. WattNode configuration considerations
5. Viewing data
6. Saving your configuration - IMPORTANT
7. SNMP trap setup

Note: If you are considering interfacing other LonWorks devices via SNMP, these "How To" pages still apply. Simply substitute any other LonWorks device in place of WattNode in these discussions.
