If your LON device is connected, powered up, and ready to commission, click the Get Service Pin button. The node status at the top should say “waiting for service pin”. Now press the service pin in the WattNode (or other device). Then click the Update button on the web page. It will hopefully say status: Ok, and the Neuron ID and Program ID will come back with a string of non-zero numbers. If you do not get a non-zero string or status still says “waiting for service pin”, the X2 did not receive the message generated by pressing the button on the device. Try again, and if it continues to fail, check the LON network wiring.
IMPORTANT: Stop here and continue trouble shooting until you get a non-zero Neuron ID and Program ID.
Next click the Auto Config button on the LON Devices page (expanded view). Then click the Set Config button. This will “commission” the WattNode or other device. At this point the service LED should stop blinking. If the service pin was blinking prior to these steps, you next need to click the Reset button to reset the WattNode (or other LonWorks device). If the LonWorks device had been previously commissioned, this Reset step should not be necessary.
Finally, click the Get XIF from Device button on the web page. The node status should now say “Importing XIF”, and this process will take a couple of minutes. Click Update to see if it is still working on it. When done, node status will say “XIF import done”.
At this point, the NV count should be something greater than zero. You can then click on the LON Variables page.
