Quick Help

Provide the email account information above. The i.CanDoIt needs to be able to log into an SMTP server in order to send email. This is not where email will be sent to, but rather where email will effectively be sent from. User name refers to the account login name assigned to this i.CanDoIt. The System Contact must be the email name assigned to the account (e.g., myemail@mailer.com)

The SMTP IP address is used if the SMTP server for outgoing email is at a static IP address. If the SMTP server is known only by host or domain name (and its IP address may change), use the host name instead. Set the IP address to zero if host name is used. If non-zero, the IP address will be used and name ignored. A typical host name looks something like "smtp.mycompany.com". The default SMTP port number is 25.

SMTP domain is the authentication name used for MD5 Digest authentication. If authentication is not used, this field can be left blank. Check "Use Authentication" if it should be used. When authentication is used, the email client will use the EHLO command to determine the server's authentication level and give preference to authentication in this order: (1) Digest-MD5, (2) CRAM-MD5, (3) Login, (4) Plain.

The POP3 IP address is used if the POP3 server (incoming email) is at a static IP address. If the POP3 server is known by host name, use the name instead and set the IP address to zero to cause it to be disregarded.

The system name and location are included in the default email message to identify the origin of the email.
