Follow these steps to recover BACnet MS/TP communication settings for AddMe.
Changes to device identity are made via software rather than attempting to set 40 DIP switches. However, this implies that you must somehow be able to get the attention of the device to make those settings that include baud rate and device ID. A special mode referred to as INIT mode is intered upon power-up, and the device remains in INIT mode for just a few seconds. During INIT mode, the red LED inside the device will remain mostly on, blinking off briefly about once a second. You have about 5 seconds to "catch" it in INIT mode. If you do not take action to perform an INIT function, it will begin normal operation after about 5 seconds.
A special utility is provided to run on your PC. It should have been included in the same zip file or CD you got the configuration utility from. Since only one program at a time can use the COM port, you must first exit the configuration program, then open a command prompt window. Enter the baccom command as shown here:
This illustrates using the COM2 port on your PC to set the connected device to be at station ID (mac address) 1, with a max master count of 3, using 9600 baud, and device instance 2. The reinit password will be reset to "addme". The baccom program ALWAYS communicates at 19200 baud. The baud rate setting given in the baccom command will take effect when the device begins normal operating mode.
NOTE: You would only need to use this procedure when you do not know (or remember) what address or baud rate your AddMe ended up at. Normally you can reset all of these parameters via the configuration tool, and new settings will take effect upon device re-initialization.
Out of the box, baud rate is 9600 baud, station ID (mac accress) is 1, and device instance is 2. Reinit password is "addme".
If you enter an incorrect or missing parameter for baccom, you will get the message shown here (in this case the baud rate is not acceptable for MS/TP):
